Soon Section 8 Chicago will be the most disliked group of supporters in MLS. I’m entertained by the tweets right now because i’m not at the draft. If I were there, I’d likely be embarrassed. For now, I’ll enjoy a few laughs.

We are MLS supporters. We can’t be told when to sit/stand/sing or wave flags. This is the sport. This is how we roll.

Each respective front office throughout the league loves supporter photo ops but also have to accept that our style of support is a thoughtful and passionate expression that can’t be dictated or orchestrated through policy or instruction. It has to be organic or it is a lie. We support from the heart.

South Side’s Got Sole is an event to benefit the Share Your Soles organization in their quest to get their new Pullman facilities in order and also for the founder, Mona Purdy, who recently lost everything in a fire.

Come out and hear a set from The Crombies, Chicago’s very best in 2 Tone Ska and Rock Steady. The rest of the night will feature some of the midwest’s hottest soul DJ’s spinning northern soul and Motown classics – Dave Monroe of Milwaukee, Jason Berry of Windy City Soul Club, and more! Don’t forget to wish Eric Keogh a Happy Birthday!

Since the event is free, there will be A TON of great raffle prizes and silent auction items. Feel free to bring a pair of used kicks to help benefit Share Your Soles.

If you can’t make it but would still like to make a donation, visit chicagosole.eventbrite.com

One year ago yesterday, my late father was inducted into the Chicago Fire’s Wall of Honor. Thanks to the Fire for helping create such a wonderful memory of my dad and for all those who supported us through it. A red heart can never be broken. ♥

Footy love, nikhak

Thanks for sharing these, Section 8 Chicago and Pitch Invasion.

A small little clip of my experience at the Fire game in Montreal this past Saturday.

thefootyqueen:

This past weekend I traveled to Montreal to support my @ChicagoFire for their first game of the 2012 season and the first MLS home game of Montreal Impact.

Before we, Section 8 Chicago, were allowed into the stadium, we waited outside the concrete walls of Stade olympique where chants were sung in excitement for the match.

I hope to have a more detailed post about my experience at the game posted before the weekend, but until then, enjoy this short video.

Footy love, nikhak

Today is all about this man, who left us too soon two years ago today. Thanks for being my daily inspiration to be a better person every day. Miss you, dad. <3 (Taken with instagram)
