What were we doing last weekend, you ask? Well, Smash was cheering on her FC Dallas boys at home in Dallas with her girls, and Julie and I were bundled up in Chicago trying to bear the cold weather and terrible soccer being played by Chicago Fire - at least the tifo by Section 8 Chicago was off the hook.

Losses & sadfaces. Hoping this weekend is better for our teams. MLS weekend #3 of 2013 is upon us - happy soccer watching.

I haven’t mentioned it here on my own personal tumblr yet (though I have been sharing the love here), but I am so stoked for the Women’s World Cup.  I’ve been waiting for the perfect photo to share here, and I think this is my favorite photo of the tourney yet.  Marta utterly defeated. Soccer and the World Cup bring so many different emotions, and I think this photo is a perfect example of that. 

AHHHHHHHHHH. World Cup excitement is in the air!

I am writing to let everyone know that the Chicago Fire will be honoring our dad/husband this year by inducting him onto their Wall of Honor. Naturally, the three of us are truly appreciative of this honor. As you know, the Fire has been a huge part of our lives for several years now, and at times Toyota Park seems empty now without our dad their, even with 20,000 fans filling the stadium. This tribute to our father/husband will hopefully help fill a void that is missing in our lives, though we know it will never replace all the memories we’ve shared with him over the years.  -nikhak

Watching him play, not just in this match but in most matches, I find it almost impossible to believe that this is the guy who crashes his car into pedestrians, pummels teammates on the training field, curses his managers, makes two-footed lunges into opponents’ shins.
